“I don’t have time” is one of the most common reasons people cite to me when it comes to making changes in their life.

Think about it.

How many times have you been thinking about doing something, but only to turn away at the time time commitment it might take?

Want to start at the gym? You’re too overwhelmed with all the kids activities, or seeding at the farm going on.

Want to start a nutrition plan? The thought of having to meal prep makes you turn right around. Nobody’s got time for that.

The easiest way around this thought-blocking idea is to perform a time audit on yourself.

A time audit is a look outside-the-box of what’s going on in your daily life and day-to-day decisions of what you do with your time.

If we all work 8 hour jobs, and we sleep 7-8 hours a night, that’s only 16 hours of our day that’s accounted for. What about the other 8?

You probably allocate some time to family time, getting ready for your day, and things like chores and stuff around the house. Let’s call that in total, 4 hours.

That leaves 4 hours in your day that you’ve got time to do something proactive to get you living a better, healthier life.

When we time audit our days, it will expose things like the amount of time you spend sitting on your phone, on Facebook. Watching Netflix is another time consuming activity that is not doing us anything that will get us ahead. Time audits will glaringly show the time-wasters in our days.

So that the next time you’re faced with an opportunity to change your life, “I don’t have time,” becomes a glaringly obvious reaction to unpreparedness.

We all can find 2-3 hours in our WEEK to meal prep, and we all can find 3 hours in our week to exercise.

Arguably, the word “make” should be there, instead of “find.”

Priorities, my friends.

So that’s my challenge to you today. Perform a time audit and make yourself an extra 10 minutes in your day, every day, to do something that will be proactive towards your goals.

What will you do with an extra 10 minutes? How many of you actually sat back and time audited yourselves?
